New Layouts

Just wanted to share two layouts I made at the weekend.
This one is of Andrew taken in April this year, a month before his 7th birthday. I used Rouge De Garance papers (Aile ou Fleur No 1) and a Hambly vintage lime green overlay. I purchased these from Angel Crafts. I had bought the overlay to use as part of a class from the Design Collective so it looks like I'll need to get another one!
I embellished around the circle with various sizes/colours of coordinating buttons. I hand wrote the journalling on to Basic Grey paper from the Obscure range and cut in to strips. I saw the journalling on a layout on the 2peas website and adapted to suit my needs.

The second layout is using photos taken of Andrew and Peter last month playing the playstation together. When I saw the intensity on their faces I had to sneak in and take their picture so I could scrap it. I don't think they were aware that I was in the room! One minute they can be fighting with each other but when they play the playstation together there is total peace and quiet - they get so engrossed!
Papers used are from the Obscure range by Basic Grey. I hand cut the word "Techno" using the font Computerfont, downloaded from dafont.com

I'm not alone!!!

Well for once in my life I can honestly say that I am not alone in being a chatterbox!! The team I am part of over on UKS is now up and running and boy are we going to run up a few hundred posts each week!
Everyone is really friendly and very chatty which is great but not so great if you miss a few hours on the forum.....because then you take about 30 mins to read all the missed posts.
Our new team is called the Glitter Gossips and one of our team members called Kevin made a lovely sparkling logo for our signatures.

Kevin thinks we may be the only team on UKS to have a male member, I am so glad he is part of our team as he brings a refreshing take on things.
We are all still in the process of getting to know each other but already we have found loads of common interests other than scrapbooking. I have got the role of being team leader which means I have to start a new thread each month and collect everyone's points and submit to our house leader, I hope I don't muck up! so far I am enjoying my role. We are in the Blue brads house and can chat in their common room too - gosh it feels a bit like Hogwarts!! :):)

Already I feel so inspired and motivated to scrap more so watch this space......

I would also like to thank Karen Leahy AKA Scrapdolly for all her help in setting us up and her reassuring words of support.

New Challenges!

I've just signed up to a new team that's starting over on UKS. One of my fellow team members has the most amazing blog, just check out the cakes!! Tasha I will definitely be viewing your blog often!!! Her blog can be found here.

I am very excited about joing a team as I have fancied this for ages, just been waiting for a new one to start as I have missed out a few times in past. It'll be a great way to make new frends and encourage me to scrap more!

Over at the Design Collective I have also signed up to become part of a Circle Journal, we are waiting for two more members and then we are ready to go!
The theme I have picked for my journal is "Two stars and a wish." As a teacher we often comment on children's work by using the "two stars and a wish" formula which means we choose two things we really liked/feel they did well at and say one thing we would like them to improve/work on. For my journal I would like each member to make a layout about two things they are good at/like about their personality etc and one thing they'd like to improve. I feel that too often we focus on what we can't do and never congratulate ourselves on the things we can. Really excited about all my new ventures - only hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew!!

Scrap Attack Projects

I found time today to finish off the projects I made at Dyan Reaveley's Scrap Attack class last weekend. I am delighted with everything I made and all the new techniques I learned. If I had to choose a favourite it would have to be the mini album and decorated tin. I recently bought a Bind-It-All machine and can't wait to start making mini albums now that I know how easy it is!

All the projects I made

Christmas Tag Book

Envelope Tag Book

Alphabet Plaque

Mini Album

Decorated Tin to hold Mini Album

Fairy Plaque

And to finish off here is the great mound of stash I bought from Dyan's Blonde Moments shop!

Blonde Moments Scrap Attack Weekend

I have spent the most amazing two days attending classes by Dyan Reaveley from Blonde Moments. It was organised by a small craft group based at Macduff, which is around 20 miles from where I live. They have to be congratulated for taking on such a large project and bringing such a "big name" in the craft industry to our doorstep.
I attended with Fiona and Annette amd also made lots of new friends there. There were plenty of homebakes, cups of coffee etc to keep us going and although the bar was open none of us indulged as we were too focused on our classes!!
Dyan enthusiastically delivered six classes over the two days and was an amazing teacher, she is so skilled! I have learned lots of new techniques that I will go on to use and I also picked up several handy everyday tips too.
She also brought along her shop and the stock was flying off the shelves....needless to say I wasn't very good at restraining myself and spent a small (okay big) fortune!!

Here are some photos from the weekend. I still have to finish off some of my projects but will upload once they are complete.
