Productive Crop

I was at a crop yesterday organised through UK Scrappers and had a great day. I made two new layouts and am delighted with how they turned out.

The first one I made by scraplifting a layout that Sugar Almond from UKS had made. I really love her unique style, what a talent she has! Her gallery can be found here and is amazing. The layout I lifted my idea from can be found here.

I used Bazzill Bling cardstock which I painted onto using Adirondack daubers in three colours. The 3D snowflake is a tree decoration and the other snowflakes were cut on the Cricut and jazzed up with gemstones. I bought letters at the crop yesterday which were just perfect for the theme of the layout.
The photograph is of my youngest son Peter taken during the huge snowfall we had in March 2006.

I finished the second layout when I got home and it is my favourite out of all my layouts. I am so pleased with it that I think I will make a canvas based on the same design.

I used dark brown Bazzill cardstock as a background, the patterned papers are by Chatterbox, called Foyer Hearts. I covered the small chipboard heart and number 4 with Boho Chic Luscious Lace from the Urban Window Collection. I think the manufacturer is We R Memory Keepers. I painted the large chipboard heart with two shades of Adirondack paint daubers and tied ribbon round it. I found a clock charm in my stash that I felt was perfect to add to the "forever" theme and it also adds dimension. the scallop at the bottom was cut on the Cricut machine and the ribbons are from my ribbon collection (not sure of manufacturers).
The photograph is of Andrew and Peter and was taken in November 2007.

Just like the days of old!!!!

I woke this morning to a freezing house as our heating is broken again!! Scottish Gas have been out three times over the past month because the heating wouldn't switch off however this time it is not going on. We've borrowed a couple of heaters to heat the rooms we can stick to until they come tomorrow to fix it.
My husband suggested we go to bed very early to keep warm but as we have no tv in our room I declined his offer .........or in 9 months time I could have an unexpected bundle...........well you know what they say about the olden days with no heating or tvs!!!
To make matters worse my utility room sink is blocking again when the washing machine is on resulting in all the water that is pumped out overflowing the sink and coming out over the top........on to a carpet aaargggh

I'm off to sit in the small sitting room, which is quite cosy now with the portable heater and read Elsie Flannigan's 52 challenges. Then I'll head to bed with ...........................

.....................hot chocolate and a hot water bottle!!

I hope tomorrow brings a better day.

UKS challenge

This is the first team challenge I have taken part in and I am delighted that I have achieved my goal of completing at least one weekly UKS team challenge per month.

This week's challenge was set by the RickRack Ravers and is to:

Use the sketch provided,

Use something new,

Use 3 patterned papers,

Use ribbon, rikrak or stitching,

Use a doodle.

The photo used is from our Florida holiday in July 2006 so I am also delighted to get more pages done for my Florida album.

Stash Dieting!!

Myself and a some other Glitter Gossip team members have decided to go on a stash diet.
There is one called S.A.D. (stash addicted dieters) that is running on UKS where each member has to use up existing stash along with dieting and gain rewards for weight lost. However rather than join that one we have started our own one within our team. Therefore we can set our own "rules" as each of us will have different commitments etc.
Here are the rules I have set myself:

* I am allowed to purchase adhesives as required.

* I am allowed to attend crops.

* I can have a total of £40 each month as a budget as long as I complete at least 1 LO per week (average over the month).

* If I do not complete an average of 4 LOs per month then £10 per missing LO will be deducted from the following months budget.

* My monthly kit subscription to Sarah's cards is excluded but add-ons have to be bought from the budget.

* Any unused money can be rolled over to the following month.

* I can borrow up to half of the next months money to make a special purchase.

* I can earn 10p per point I earn for my team e.g DLO earns £2, mini book earns £5 AFTER the compulsory weekly one.

* I can earn £2 per pound of weight lost (I'd like to lose 8lb) and a bonus of £20 once I acheive my weight target.

* My month runs from the 1st of each month.

* Scrapaganza (June) is excluded from my stash diet!!

My New Year's Resolutions .....FINALLY!!!!

To all my blog visitors I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings and I would also like to wish you a happy new year. I hope 2008 is the year that all your dreams and wishes come true.

I have decided to make some New Year's resolutions even though I know I will probably fail miserably in keeping them!!! However I have never made craft related resolutions so I might just succeed with some.
Here goes!!

1. Buy stash because I need it rather than just because it has caught my eye....okay, okay I'll never keep that one so perhaps 20% of my stash buying can be because I WANT it.

2. Spend no more than £40 per month on stash....hmmm so that's £32 for essentials and £8 for desires.........not sure about that either. Perhaps I shoould just have a budget of £40 to spend on what I want. SCRAPAGANZA IS EXCLUDED FROM THIS RULE!!!!

3. As I want to set myself realistic goals there is no point in me trying to aim for a layout per day, I think one layout per week is an acceptable goal for me. Mini books etc can be done over two weeks.

4. Complete my circle journal entries in the first half of the month that I receive them and not leave till last few days before posting.

5. Take part in at least one team challenge on UKS per month.

Hmmm I might come back later and add some more.
